Japan Overseas Development Corporation, or JODC, is a non-profit corporation subsidized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), having the purposes of contributing to the industrial development of mainly developing countries, and energizing of Japanese affiliated companies. For these purposes, we encourage the transfer of technology with support for the development of human resources by dispatching experts to Japanese affiliated companies and other appropriate companies or organizations in such countries.

JODC has following cooperation activities.

1. Expert Dispatch Programs

(1)

ODA Type (JODC Expert Service Abroad [JESA] I Program)

JODC dispatches experts to companies and private organizations, etc., in developing countries with the aim of fostering development of economic and industrial human resources in developing countries, facilitating business expansion of Japanese affiliated companies and improving management, skills, and other capacities of local companies.

SME Type (Small or Medium-sized Enterprises [SME] Program)

JODC dispatches experts for supporting locally incorporated companies of Japanese small or medium-sized enterprises in their technological and management capacity building with the aim of promoting the global expansion of Japanese small or medium-sized enterprises.

(3) EPA Type (Economic Partnership Agreement [EPA] Program )
JODC dispatches experts to locally incorporated companies and other companies on site to help them improve knowledge and skills, as well as strengthening competitiveness, with the aim of contributing to the advancement of the industries of Japan and the other party of the Economic Partnership Agreement that was agreed or generally agreed upon with the Japanese Government.

2. Other activities

(1) Consultative assistance for Japanese small or medium-sized enterprises in their overseas operations
JODC offers separate consultations with advisors who possess considerable knowledge and experience of the issues that many Japanese small or medium-sized enterprises often encounter in their overseas operations, including taxation, accounting matters and labor affairs. In addition, seminars and other forms of assistance including individual consultations are also arranged to share useful information.
(2) Role as AMEICC Secretariat
JODC performs a role as Secretariat of the AEM-METI Economic and Industrial Cooperation Committee, or AMEICC, a body comprised of economic ministers of Japan and ASEAN member countries to discuss specific economic and industrial cooperation issues within the ASEAN region.
(3) Internship Program Overseas
JODC offers opportunities to gain work experience in overseas offices for Japanese students with the aim of developing future human resources in the overseas offices of Japanese small or medium-sized enterprises, and assists in the global expansion of those enterprises with the opinions offered by the students based on their experiences.
(4) Human Resources Development Program in Japan
JODC subsidizes a part of costs of receiving local employee in the overseas affiliated company who was given technical assistance by JODC expert with the aim of promoting the global expansion of Japanese small or medium-sized enterprises.
